Foodclik Ltd is committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the EU GDPR where applicable.
Data We Collect
Stored Only on Your Device
Your profile information (name, age, weight, height, activity level, goal), meal logs, food photographs you submit for analysis, and app preferences (including dark mode and notification settings). This data never leaves your device except where explicitly transmitted for AI analysis.
Transmitted for AI Analysis
When you use the food scanning feature, your food photograph and any associated context are transmitted securely to OpenAI's API for processing. OpenAI's privacy policy governs their handling of this data. We do not store your images on our servers beyond the duration needed to obtain an AI response.
Account Data
If you create an account, we store your email address and a securely hashed version of your password. Google Sign-In users' Google ID and profile name are stored. We do not store your Google password.
Usage Data
We may collect anonymised, aggregated usage analytics to improve the app. This data cannot be used to identify you individually.

- Erasure: Use "Clear All Data" in Settings to delete all locally stored data
- Data portability: Receive your data in a portable format
- Object to processing: Opt out of non-essential processing
- Complaint: Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the UK or your local supervisory authority
Third-Party Services
OpenAI
We use OpenAI's API (including GPT-4 Vision) to power food analysis, nutritional estimation, and the AI coaching chat. OpenAI processes data on their servers in accordance with their Privacy Policy. API data is not used to train OpenAI models by default.
RevenueCat
Subscription management and in-app purchase processing use RevenueCat as an intermediary. RevenueCat's Privacy Policy applies to data they process. Payment card details are handled entirely by Apple App Store or Google Play.
ElevenLabs
The AI voice coaching feature uses ElevenLabs to convert text responses to speech. Text is transmitted to ElevenLabs' API for audio generation. ElevenLabs' Privacy Policy applies.
Expo / React Native
The app is built using Expo (expo.dev). Expo may collect limited telemetry data. Please review Expo's privacy policy.
Fair Use Policy
Foodclik Premium is marketed as offering "unlimited" meal scans, AI coaching and related features. To keep the service affordable and prevent automated or abusive use that would harm availability for everyone else, all "unlimited" features are subject to a fair-use limit applied per account per day (UTC).
The current fair-use limit is set at a level well above what any realistic individual user would reach through normal personal use of the app — heavy users who scan every meal and chat regularly with the AI coach will not encounter it. The limit exists to stop scripted abuse, account-sharing across many devices, and resale of API access.
If you approach the daily limit, the app will show a friendly notice. If you exceed it, further requests on that day will return an error and resume automatically at 00:00 UTC. We reserve the right to adjust the limit, and to suspend accounts that we reasonably believe are being used in breach of this policy or our Terms of Service. The current numeric limit is available on request to foodclikapp45@hotmail.com.
This policy does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer, including your right to cancel a subscription in accordance with Apple's or Google's refund policies.
Data Retention
Data stored locally on your device is retained until you delete the app or use "Clear All Data." Data transmitted to OpenAI for analysis is subject to OpenAI's data retention policies. Account data held on our servers is retained until you request deletion.
Children's Privacy
Foodclik is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please contact us at foodclikapp45@hotmail.com.
