Privacy Policy
We, the developer of Foodclik ("we", "our", "us"), are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the EU GDPR where applicable.
Data We Collect
Stored on Your Device
Foodclik keeps a copy of your profile, meal log and app preferences (including dark mode and notification settings) on your device so the app works offline. If you use Foodclik without signing in, this data stays on your device only, apart from the requests to the services described under "Sent for AI Analysis" and "Third-Party Services" below. If you turn on Apple Health or Google Health Connect sync, the step count and active calories we read are stored on your device only and are never sent to our servers.
Apple Health & Google Health Connect
Health sync is optional and off until you turn it on in the Profile tab. If you turn it on, Foodclik asks for read-only access to two data types: Steps and Active Calories Burned. We never write to Apple Health or Health Connect, and we don't read any other health data.
- How we use it: only to show your daily steps and active calories in the app, alongside your nutrition tracking.
- Where it is stored: on your device only. It is never sent to our servers, to OpenAI or to any other third party.
- Sharing: we do not share, sell or transfer this data, and we never use it for advertising, marketing or to determine credit-worthiness.
- Deleting it: turn health sync off, use "Clear All Data" on the Profile tab, or uninstall the app. You can also revoke Foodclik's access at any time in the Health app (iPhone) or in Health Connect settings (Android).
Foodclik's use of information received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Stored on Our Servers (Signed-In Users)
When you sign in, we store the following on our servers so your data is backed up and available if you reinstall or change device:
- Account details: your email address, display name, and the sign-in details described under "Signing In" below.
- Profile: your name, age range, weight, height, activity level, goal, nutrition and water targets and preferred units. This is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before it is written to our database.
- Meal log: each meal you log, including its date, meal type, nutrition values, AI description and score.
- Meal photos (Premium only): if you have Foodclik Premium, the photo of each scanned meal is stored in private cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) so it appears in your History on any device. Photos are only accessible through links that expire after one hour, issued to your signed-in account. Free users' meal photos are not stored on our servers.
- Subscription status: whether you have an active Premium subscription.
- Last active date: when the app last checked in with our servers while you were signed in.
- Sign in with Apple token: if you sign in with Apple, an encrypted token that we keep only so that we can revoke Foodclik's access to your Apple ID when you delete your account.
- Feedback and support messages you send from the app, together with your email address and display name.
- Daily usage counts (for example, how many scans you made on a given day), used to apply the free-tier limits and the Premium fair-use limits described in the Fair Use Policy below.
- Email records: which service emails we have sent you and whether you have unsubscribed.
Signing In
You can sign in with an email address and password, with Google Sign-In, or (on iPhone) with Sign in with Apple.
- Email and password: we store your email address and a securely hashed version of your password. We never store your password in readable form.
- Google Sign-In: we store your Google account ID, email address and profile name. We never receive or store your Google password.
- Sign in with Apple: we store your Apple ID identifier, the email address Apple shares with us (which may be a private relay address) and your name if you choose to share it. We never receive or store your Apple ID password.
Sent for AI Analysis
Foodclik's AI features use OpenAI's GPT-4o mini model. Requests go from our servers to OpenAI through Replit's AI integration service. Your email address and account ID are not included. What is sent depends on the feature:
- Meal scans, live camera tips and menu scans: the photo you take or choose, your goal, your language setting and, for menu scans, the calories and protein you have left today.
- Tips and food-reel captions: the foods and nutrition values of the meal, your goal and your language setting.
- AI coach: your messages and recent replies, plus a short summary of your profile: your first name as entered in the app, your goal, your daily targets and what you have eaten today.
Apart from Premium meal photos stored as described above, we do not keep the photos you submit for analysis on our servers, and we do not store your AI coach conversations on our servers. Your Apple Health or Health Connect data is never sent for AI analysis.
Nutrition Database Lookups
To check the nutrition values of a scanned meal, our servers search the USDA FoodData Central database using only the names of the foods identified (for example, "grilled chicken breast"). No photo, account details or other personal data are sent to the USDA.
Notifications
Meal reminders and other reminder notifications are scheduled on your device itself. Foodclik does not register your device for remote push notifications, and no notification data is sent to our servers.
Usage Data
We record anonymous usage events (for example, that a scan took place, how long it took and whether it succeeded) to monitor and improve the app. These events are not linked to your account and cannot be used to identify you. Foodclik does not use third-party analytics or advertising tools, and does not track you across other apps or websites.
Deleting Your Foodclik Account
You can permanently delete your Foodclik account and the data we hold about you at any time, directly in the Foodclik app.
How to delete your account
- Open the Foodclik app and make sure you are signed in to the account you want to delete.
- Tap the Profile tab.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
- If your account has a password, enter it to confirm.
- Tap Yes, permanently delete my account.
If you can't access the app, email support@stockintel.app from the email address linked to your Foodclik account and ask us to delete it. We will verify the request and delete your account.
What is deleted
When you delete your account, we immediately and permanently delete from our servers:
- your account details (email address, display name, password hash, and Google or Apple sign-in identifiers)
- your profile
- your meal log
- your stored meal photos
- your subscription status, feedback and support messages, daily usage counts and email records
If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke Foodclik's access to your Apple ID. The app also clears the data stored on your device and signs you out.
What is kept
- Anonymous usage events: these are not linked to your account and are kept to understand overall app usage.
- Subscriptions: deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription. Cancel it to avoid further charges: on iPhone in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or on Android in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Apple, Google and RevenueCat keep their own purchase records under their own privacy policies.
- Third-party processors: data already sent to OpenAI for analysis, or emails already sent through our email provider, are kept by those providers under their own retention policies.
How We Use Your Data
- To provide and improve the Foodclik service
- To generate AI-powered nutritional insights
- To personalise your experience based on your stated goals
- To process subscription payments (handled entirely by your app store provider — we do not receive or store payment card details)
- To email you a weekly nutrition report when you request one in the app
- To send account emails (such as password resets) and occasional service emails about your account and Foodclik Premium. Every service email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
Your Rights (UK/EU GDPR)
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Rectification: Correct inaccurate data
- Erasure: Use "Clear All Data" on the Profile tab to delete the data stored on your device, or "Delete Account" on the Profile tab to permanently delete your account and the data we store on our servers. See Deleting Your Foodclik Account for the full steps, or email support@stockintel.app if you can't access the app.
- Data portability: Receive your data in a portable format
- Object to processing: Opt out of non-essential processing
- Complaint: Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the UK or your local supervisory authority
Third-Party Services
These are the only third parties that receive personal data from Foodclik:
Replit
Our servers and database are hosted by Replit, so the data we store on our servers (described above) is held on Replit's infrastructure. Our AI requests to OpenAI are also routed through Replit's AI integration service. Replit's Privacy Policy applies.
OpenAI
We use OpenAI's API (GPT-4o mini) for food and menu analysis, nutritional estimation, tips, food-reel captions and the AI coaching chat, using the data described under "Sent for AI Analysis" above. OpenAI processes data on their servers in accordance with their Privacy Policy. API data is not used to train OpenAI models by default.
USDA FoodData Central
We look up food names in the U.S. Department of Agriculture's public FoodData Central database to check nutrition values. Only food names are sent, never personal data.
RevenueCat
Subscription management and in-app purchase processing use RevenueCat as an intermediary. RevenueCat receives your Foodclik account ID (or a random anonymous ID if you are not signed in), your purchase and subscription history from Apple or Google, and basic device information, and our servers ask RevenueCat whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat's Privacy Policy applies to data they process. Payment card details are handled entirely by Apple App Store or Google Play.
Cloudflare R2
Premium users' meal photos are stored in a private Cloudflare R2 storage bucket. Cloudflare's Privacy Policy applies to their infrastructure.
Resend
Account emails, service emails and weekly reports are sent through Resend, which processes your email address and the email content in order to deliver them. Resend's Privacy Policy applies.
Google and Apple Sign-In
If you choose Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple, Google or Apple confirms your identity and shares the account details described under "Signing In" above. Their own privacy policies apply to that sign-in process.
Expo (app updates)
The app is built using Expo (expo.dev). Each time it opens, the app checks Expo's update service for updates, which means Expo receives your IP address, your device platform and the app version. Please review Expo's privacy policy.
ipapi.co
If the app cannot load prices from the App Store or Google Play, it asks ipapi.co for your country (based on your IP address) so that it can show Premium prices in your local currency. Only the country is kept, on your device, for up to 7 days. ipapi.co's Privacy Policy applies.
Fair Use Policy
Foodclik Premium is subject to a fair-use limit of 30 AI actions per account per day in total. AI actions are AI meal scans, restaurant menu scans, AI coach messages, refreshed tips and food-reel captions, counted together. All limits apply per account per day (UTC) and reset at 00:00 UTC. The current limits are:
- Premium: a fair-use total of 30 AI actions a day, and within it up to 15 AI meal scans, 5 menu scans and 20 AI coach messages a day. Live-camera preview checks are counted separately (up to 30 a day).
- Free: up to 3 AI meal scans, 1 menu scan, 3 AI coach messages, 3 tip refreshes and 3 reel captions a day. Live-camera preview checks are counted separately (up to 5 a day).
These limits keep the service affordable and stop scripted abuse, account-sharing across many devices, and resale of API access. When you reach a limit, the app will tell you, and that feature becomes available again at 00:00 UTC. We may change these limits; if we do, we will give notice in the app and update this page. We may suspend accounts that we reasonably believe are being used in breach of this policy or our Terms of Service.
This policy does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer, including your right to cancel a subscription in accordance with Apple's or Google's refund policies.
Data Retention
Data stored on your device is kept until you delete the app or use "Clear All Data." Data we hold on our servers for your account is kept for as long as your account exists, and is permanently deleted as soon as you delete your account (see Deleting Your Foodclik Account). When you delete an individual meal, its stored photo is deleted too. Data sent to OpenAI for analysis is subject to OpenAI's data retention policies. Anonymous usage events are not linked to your account and are kept to understand overall app usage.
Children's Privacy
Foodclik is intended for users aged 16 and over. It is not directed at, nor intended for use by, anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has provided personal data, please contact us at support@stockintel.app and we will delete it.
